Innovation Day 2009
September 14 2009 6:00pm - September 15 2009 6:00pm
Presented by:
On Innovation Day young innovators and industry leaders come together to celebrate innovation in the chemical industry today and seek solutions for tomorrow’s challenges.
For the sixth year in a row, the Chemical Heritage Foundation and the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) will host Innovation Day, featuring the Warren G. Schlinger Symposium and the awarding of the SCI Gordon E. Moore Medal.
The Warren G. Schlinger Symposium
The Schlinger Symposium will bring together senior executives, research and technology managers, and young industry scientists to examine frontier research areas in the chemical industry. This year’s sessions will explore sustainable chemistry and engineering, the chemistry of energy sources, electronic materials, health materials, and emerging global economies.
Attendees can participate in one of these sessions and in opening and closing plenary sessions. An additional poster session will feature presentations by young industry researchers and a chance for discussion and networking.
The SCI Gordon E. Moore Medal
The Society of Chemical Industry will award the sixth annual Gordon E. Moore Medal to Emma Parmee of Merck and Company to honor her early-career success in discovering the first and only dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DDP-4) inhibitor for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
The Perkin Medal
Following the Innovation Day events at CHF, SCI will award its prestigious Perkin Medal to Richard B. Silverman of Northwestern University at a reception and dinner at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Penn's Landing.
